Vacancy: District Youth Commissioner

Could you drive our Youth Shaped strategy?

Deadline: Friday 13th March 2020 5pm

We have recently launched our District Strategy to 2023, and we would like to take this opportunity to find the best person to lead the Youth Shaped strand of that strategy.

Given that this strand is all about ensuring that the voices of our Young People are heard, this role is only open to those aged between 18 and 24. You don't have to have been involved in Scouting previously, you may have relevant experience elsewhere in your life. What is crucial is that you have the passion, energy and time available to support our District Team, together with Scout Groups which meet throughout Caerphilly County Borough. Have a look at where our groups meet here

This is a really exciting time to be joining our adventure, as we are working towards our Skills for Life strategy, with particular emphasis on:

  • Youth Shaped
  • Community Impact

As a uniformed organisation, the successful candidate will proudly wear our uniform and will be expected to take the Scout promise and abide by the Scout law. The successful candidate will receive full management training in their role, culminating in the awarding of the Wood Badge.

We are committed to providing flexible opportunities for volunteering, and so would encourage applications from anyone who feels that they may be able to volunteer in an alternative way, or where you may not be able to undertake all of the duties and responsibilities but could support the district with some of them. An example role description can be found here, however a specific role description will be agreed with the successful candidate.
