The course is covering aspects of the first aid at work qualification. It fully encompasses the first response requirements for to complete Module 10.

The whole cost of the course is £38.00, this is being subsidised by CRAI district executive so the cost to you will be £10.00.
Alternative Monopoly Run
Where: All Across Central London

We are looking at taking Units to the Alternative Monopoly Run in London in March 2020. Units will be made up of six participants and come in two types, Unaccompanied and Accompanied. The aim of the event is to visit as many locations on the traditional monopoly board as possible whilst completing a series of challenges.

Practical Skills Day

Where: Silvercross Scout Camp Swansea

We are looking to build a Welsh team under the Bushscout banner who are committed to improving practical skills knowledge within Scout Leaders, with a clear focus on Wales. Training will be provided on the day by members of the Bushscout.UK SASU.

The Skills Day will provide training on how to teach Young People to

- Safely use Knives,
- Safely use Axes and Saws
- Build big pioneering projects (Watch towers etc.)
- Prep Simple Game (Pigeon and Sardines will be shown on the day)
- Use Tarps to build shelters (Tarpology)
- Backwoods Cooking
- Fire lighting.

The cost of the day will be £35 per person, Camping/Hammocking is available for teams that need to stay overnight both the day before and after the event.

District Litter Pick

CRAI District litter pick - in conjunction with Caerphilly Borough Council and Keep Wales Tidy.
Children and leaders will meet from 9.30am for a 10.00am start. Ensure all participants wear appropriate gloves to handle dirty litter. Materials will be provided via Keep Wales Tidy.
Parking available for drop off children at the Mountain Snack Bar car park. This is the meeting place.
The event will commence at 10.00am and finish at 11.30am.

5th Risca - 50 year anniversary and AGM

Young Leader Training weekend

Where: Crai Activity Park

The Weekend will Consist of MOD A , B, C, D and F. Evening Bar b q and activity and young leader forum on the Sunday morning followed by St Gorges day celebrations in the afternoon. The cost will be £25 per person with a £10 none refundable deposit required to be paid to CRAI Scout Council by Saturday the 28th of March 2020. The maximum spaces is 20 and will done on a first come first served basis.

For the over night camp your will require a tent, sleeping bag and camp mat. This will be a passport event and your NAP will need to provide one.

Once you register a email will be sent that contains a link and this needs to be filled out.

CRAI District Dragon Boat Badge and Other Water Activities

What: Water Activities Day
Who: Scouts and Explorers (Limit of 45 Young People on a first come first served basis)

Activities typically consist of Kayaking, Sailing, Power Boating, Rowing and Bell Boating depending upon Instructor Availability.

Leaders Commitment: Leaders attending are expected to cover off aspects such as submitting Activity Notifications to DC, collating and making payments as a single group/unit to the activities account, ensuring In-Touch arrangements for Groups/Units are in place, suitable Leader Ratios are provided and assisting Bank Side with organising of YP, Launching Boats, Fitting (but not checking) Buoyancy Aids and all other reasonable requests from Instructors.

Where Leader ratios may be an issue please contact dave.cook@craiscouts.org.uk as it may be possible to assist, let’s try to avoid Young People missing out due to leaders being unable to attend.
6 Hour ITC Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work.
Where: Skip Jennings Hall, Newport.

All courses are externally regulated and qualifications can also be used outside of scouting.

£25 per person.

This course is recognised in the workplace and is appropriate for warrant approval and renewal.

26th April 2020 (closing date for applications 10th April).

16 Hour ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid.
Where: Skip Jennings Hall, Newport.

£40 per person.

This qualification is designed to meet the needs of outdoor National Governing Body requirements and leaders taking members into the outdoor environment.

26th April & 3rd May 2020 (closing date for applications 10th April).

All courses will only run if the minimum number of 6 candidates is achieved.

St George's Day Activity

Jamboree On The Trail (JOTT) 2020

Where: Dependant on Section

Jamboree On The Trail is an annual day for World Scouting to hike together. All Scouts, whatever their age and wherever they may be in the world, are invited to participate in whatever way they can.

Explorers will start at Victoria Scout Campsite, Scouts from Aneurin Bevan Memorial Stones, Cubs at Pen-Y-Fan Leisure Park and Beavers at Pen-Y-Fan Pond. All Sections will link up, and finish at CRAI Activity Park for a scavenger hunt, campfire & BBQ.

All attendees will get a free JOTT badge and BBQ at the end of a long day’s walking. Groups attending also have the option to a free night of camping at CRAI after the hike*

Cost: £5 per person.

Please indicate if your Group is interested by completing the registration of interest form below by the 7th Feb.


*No discount will be offered if the free camping option is not taken up. Groups taking up this option will need to arrange their own Nights Away Permit and catering for any meals after the BBQ provided.

Mountain Bikes, Canoe/kayaks, Orienteering/Team Building, Pedal Go Garts, Trails and more

Arrival for adults only from 12 noon. Arrival for children from 4pm 29th May. Camp will close at 1pm 31st May. Camping equipment is NOT supplied. Ratios must be adhered to and a relevant NAN must be completed. If you need to join another group with a permit, please let me know. All dietary requirements and Margam Adventures activity forms must be completed before 1st May 2020. Please indicate in the notes section how many children and how many adults will be in attendance.
